Epiphone Les Paul Studio vs. Epiphone Les Paul Standard?

I have done a lot of research and it looks like it is going to be a les paul simply because it is so versatile. These two models are the ones in my price range. Now I have read in several places that the only different is cosmetics but in other places I have read that the quality is worth the upgrade for a standard. To be honest I am partial to the white studio based soley off of looks (it looks a lot like the one I saw lindsey buckingham of fleetwood mac play). But obviously looks are not everything and I would much rather pay up a bit for something that can be played better on stage. To be honest by the time I would get the guitar I would have only been playing for six months. I have a beautiful takamine acoustic but really want to play electric. I chose this price range because I want something that is above the intro level and will be at a high enough quality level that I do not really need to replace it. Basically in the end, is the Standard worth the extra $$?

I would recommend buying the standard. I have a Studio in Alpine White w/ Gold Hardware and I have a Standard in Sunburst regardless of how nice the studio looks, the standard sounds better to me.
