Powder Brush Gold

We all live in our own little worlds - be it old people, adults, teenagers or children. As children we loved to fantasize about life and our relationships. Most of our fantasies stemmed from our readings of fairy tales written by people with an over - active and mature imagination. These fairy tales were very close to real life stories and always had a moral behind them. There would be good and bad fairies and good things happening magically to good people. One hot summer afternoon, while I was reminiscing about those tales with beautiful, petite fairies, I dozed off and in my sleep. When I woke up I was surprised to find myself having tea with Cinderella's fairy god -mother. She invited me to a fairy fancy dress party.

I was flabbergasted as I least expected to be invited. I felt like a princess, getting an invitation to a ball in fairyland. She said she would help me with my dress and accessories. I felt like Cinderella who was found by her prince. The fairy god - mother waved her magic wand and there were lovely dresses ranging from soft pastel shades of blue, pink, beige, sea green to darker shades etc. I chose the powder blue short dress with pearl and silver bead trimmings. It had matching stockings, shoes, a tiara, a wand and wings. Then the fairy god mother waved her wand in a semi circle and there appeared a lovely gold carriage driven by white horses and an impeccably dressed driver. I dressed for the ball and then we sat in the carriage and went off to attend the fairy fancy dress party.

At the fancy dress party were hundreds of other fairies, dressed in the most beautiful colors. Some had long flowing gowns while others had short dresses like those worn by ballet dancers. There were gnomes and goblins too. The food was awesome. All dishes that one could possibly think of were all there and more. One fairy tapped her wand on a fountain and musical notes emerged from the fountain, filling the air with a sweet melody. There were fabulous fire works. We danced and played games and had lots of fun. When I looked closely I saw my friends from the neighborhood were also invited. One of them had a lovely pink full length gown, pixie shoes and a silver wand.

Surrounded by fairies, there was definitely magic in the air. I was exhausted and happy at the same time. By the time we came home I was already asleep. I awoke next morning surprised to find my dress hanging neatly on a hanger, with the shoes beneath, and the tiara and wand on my dresser. I realized that I had in fact gone to a fairy fancy dress party. As for the dress, I intend to wear it to the next charity event with out the wand, the wings and tiara at home as there is always so much to do at a charity event.
