Men's manicure sets or kits have been available for a number of years, and have not really changed, except the tools are now mostly made from stainless steel. The designs of the tools are more streamlined and fashionable as a result of modern manufacturing processes, but their use is still much the same. Man's manicuring needs have not changed much. We are much the same as we were hundreds of year ago!

So, what can one expect in a good manicure set? The answer is simply, we can expect the tools that one requires for the various grooming tasks. Basic manicure sets or kits cater for finger and toenail care, and others will include hair care essentials and shaving essentials.

A typical ten piece men's manicure set will include the following:

Finger nail clippers - a stainless steel fingernail clipper (the smaller nail clipper).

Toenail clippers - a sturdy stainless steel clipper that will cut through the toughest toenails (the larger nail clipper).

Small pair of scissors - sturdy construction from stainless steel, that can be used for cutting any nails, nose hair, ear hairs and facial hairs.

File or emery board (or dolphin nail file) - to trim the side of the fingernails and toenails and made from either steel, or sandpaper on a timber back.

Tweezers -stainless steel tweezers for any job that one needs tweezers.

Cuticle tool - usually made form plastic for "massaging" cuticles.

Comb -usually made from plastic for grooming the hair (earlier kits had metal combs)

Shaver - for shaving facial hair (and any other hair for removal), usually a disposable style razor.

Shaver blades - to ensure that blunt blades can be replaced

Small pocket knife - for any job that a small pocket knife is required.

The entire kit is kept in a compartmentalized zip bag for safe and easy storage and quick access.

Some of the items are designed with improvements, like rounded ends on the scissor, tweezers and clippers to avoid skin damage when in use. Longer handles on the clippers for easier use.

The range of prices that men's manicure sets and kits attract is interesting. The buyer should be aware that some higher price kits are priced as fashion items, rather than necessary, practical equipment for proper grooming. Travel kits are usually much more compact, so that they take up less space in the suitcase. Sometimes the components are a little smaller, but they will do the job just as well as other manicure sets.

What's the best compact digital camera for low light photography without flash?

I'm looking for a compact digital camera, it will be used indoors for doing surveys in factories. Often it won't be possible to use a flash due to the presence of highly reflective stainless steel structures and plant. So I'm looking for the best performance camera in low light without a flash, plus it has to slip easily into a coat pocket. Any other features are not so important, except battery life. Any specific recommendations based on personal experience would be great. Otherwise is there a particular digital camera specification that tells me about its low light performance, so I can directly compare models? Thanks

I gather your three main criteria are low light sensitivity, small pocketable size and long battery life.

You will need a camera that you can manually adjust the light sensitivity to a higher ISO rating. I recommend a camera with an ISO of 800 or greater. The reason being, at higher ISO setting you may take a picture at a faster shutter speed, which translates to less blurry images. Beware though that the higher you set the ISO, the pictures will appear far grainier (the technical term is "noise"). Some cameras may have less noise at higher ISO ratings so try to make some comparison shots at the store using the same ISO speeds.

There are a few slim cameras in the market like Casio Exilim and Sony CyberShot. I have a Panasonic DMC FX01 which is a slim camera but the max ISO sensitivity is mere 400. Another camera I have is the Samsung NV11 which is slightly wider and bulkier than the first but is light sensitive up to ISO 1600. Both have incredible battery life but I can't recommend either one based on your needs. Take a look at Casio Exilim EX S10: it is small and light with ISO settings from 50-1600.
