Mineral makeup has taken the beauty world by storm over the past few years, but what is it about this foundation that is getting everyone talking you may ask?

This phenomenon started back in the early 1990s and has now captivated millions of women and (even men) all over the world. So what is it about this foundation that makes it so different from other foundations? Mineral makeup gives you a radiant and healthy natural glow while letting your skin breath. Minerals look and feel so natural that you can even sleep with it on.

No matter what your skin type is by using minerals over a long period it will improve your skin texture. In particular, minerals are fantastic for people who have sensitive, allergies, scarring, rosacea, wrinkles, pigmentations and acne prone skin. The foundation provides medium to full coverage and will last all day long. The light weight texture will provide you with an even coverage and looking soft, natural and luminous. The light weight technology is great as it doesn't clog pores and cause breakouts.

Most mineral make up is made up of a pure pigment in some cases they have been mixed with talc so requires you to use a specific brush to apply the mineral. The best application technique is to use a large kabuki brush and using circular motion to break up the pigment. For the smaller problem areas use a small maximum coverage brush that will helps conceal scarring, broken capillaries or pigmentation.

Minerals are basically crushed minerals from the earth it is important to note that a "mineral makeup" may be made up of all mineral or part mineral. Therefore, it is important to read the ingredients before purchasing the product. There are so many brands out there at the moment. So how do you find the right one for you? I would highly recommend one that is a pure pigment which is talc, preservatives, oil, and fragrance free. Also, if you plan to use mineral foundation during the day try to find one that has a SPF 15 with UVA/ UVB protection.

Many brands out there have now extended their mineral makeup range to include blush, concealers, bronzers, eye colours and eye liners. Also the range of shades and colours is amazing. So you shouldn't have a problem finding one that suits you. On a last note, just remember to have fun, try different brands and that there are no set rules. Enjoy!
