Lighted Makeup Mirror

Bathrooms, which are indispensable parts of our homes, are a place where we spend a long time. But they are generally overlooked, or not given enough importance, during modeling and designing of the house. A well lit, comforting bathroom provides relaxation and recuperation after a long day, and also confers freshness and vitality enough to face the coming morn.

The once utilitarian bathrooms are undergoing a face lift as more and more people go in for luxurious and fashionable designs. Bathrooms are slowly morphing into places of luxury, catering to each whim and fancy of the consumer. Today's bathrooms demand a mixture of adequate lighting and accurate placement to ensure that the light compliments the various other fixtures, the paint, wallpapers, mirrors, etc.

There are various options for the consumer available in the market, according to the needs and the budget available. The consumer can choose from the very glamorous to the less flashy, from modern to the contemporary. The consumer should keep in mind the people who would be using the bathroom, as the elderly would prefer very bright lights for their weak eyes, while the kids might be attracted to colorful lights. Fiber optic lighting solutions which employ advanced technology provide a rainbow of colors, in shapes which are truly fascinating. Halogen bulbs and other such sources can provide for an ornate setting. A bathroom opening up to the sky with an electrically controlled roof enable an individual to connect with nature, not to mention cut down on electricity bills. Other glamorous touches like bathroom islands fixed with lamps, LED light and soft reflective material provide an unusual and mysterious setting to the otherwise ordinary room.

Spa lights, which are waterproof, are a good option. They can be stuck to the sides of the tub or showers, and come in various dusky and fair shades and are a treat to tired eyes. Lights which can be wrapped around taps or the shower, are also available, and come in various intricate designs. Lights mimicking roses, lilies and other popular flowers are an interesting option, and while they might lighten the wallet considerably they certainly are a very aesthetic option.

The light solutions should be placed away from the water, to avoid electrocution, and the lights which cannot escape contact with water should be checked and double checked to ensure adequate protection. It is recommended that all the lights would at least be water and moisture resistant, if not completely water proof. In case of a power cut, emergency lighting should always be at hand.

The mirror is the place which should be lighted the best. Light should fall perfectly and plainly on the face, without being extremely dim or too bright. The light should not be colored. White light works best, to accurately showcase the color of hair and skin. Great lighting will ensure a good shave and some nice make up! Some experts recommend colored or coated bulbs to enhance facial features, and these are mainly a matter of personal choice. Ensure that the light bulbs have adequate heat dissipation, which will ensure that the bulbs last for a long time. For reduced glare sheltered bulbs are a very good and handy option.

Why do I look fine in my mirror at home, but look terrible at school?

Is it the lighting?? Is my makeup not done well?? How can I make myself look less washed out?

Incandescent lighting makes us look better, which is probably what you have at home. At schools they usually have fluorescent lighting, which makes us look not so great. Incandescent lighting brings out warm tones while fluorescent lighting brings out cool tones.

Like I do my make up in front of a window, so that I have a good combination of incandescent lighting and natural sunlight. Because if I do my make up in fluorescent lighting, I walk outside looking like a clown.
