Brush Sealed
Hopefully you have bought a canvas-mounted artwork that has been printed using pigmented inks that are UV stable and sealed with UV protecting varnish. If so, and, if looked after correctly, your canvas artwork will last for many years. Typically this can be in excess of 75 to 100 years. Of course you will still need to look after and clean your canvas-mounted artwork so here are a few suggestions to help you keeping it looking lovely...
Avoid handling the artwork as much as possible to prevent scuffs and scratching.
Avoid displaying your canvas artwork in direct sunlight. Even if UV stable inks and varnish have been used, direct sunlight will reduce the lifespan of your canvas.
Avoid displaying your canvas in areas of extreme and fluctuating temperatures and humidity.
Never clean using a damp cloth, solvents, or cleaning fluids.
Should dust settle on your canvas then remove with a feather duster or use a soft brush to wipe while using a vacuum. Do not let the vacuum nozzle touch the canvas surface.
Avoid contact with moisture. Should any moisture come in contact with your canvas then dab gently with a dry, lint-free, cloth to remove and avoid wiping and rubbing.
Canvas is a natural product and will stretch over time. Hopefully your canvas is framed onto high-quality kiln-dried stretcher bars, which should reduce this problem. However if your canvas does appears to sag, carefully tap the wedges (if they have been fitted), which enables you to re-tension your canvas.
What epoxy can I buy at my local hardware that I can brush/ roll on to seal a plank on frame model boat hull?
I'm transforming a "display" model wooden sailboat and need to apply epoxy to make it "sail-able". I've got the other bases covered, weighted keel, rudder tube and shaft, etc. but want an easy to use epoxy to waterproof the hull.
Go to your hardware store and buy something in a spray can called appliance epoxy. Very hard and will outlast the boat. Easy to apply, no rolling or brushing.
