Brush Eye Shadow

If you have always wanted to try a sexy and illustrious smoky eye but have not yet been brave enough to do so, today is your day! A smokey eye is a magnificent addition to your makeup arsenal, adding a touch of drama for a special event or a night out. What you may be pleased to know is that it is actually much easier than you'd think... Let's begin!

To start, apply a dependable primer to your eyelids, like Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion - this gives the eye makeup something to stick to. A primer is such an important part of the smoky eye because it will keep the makeup smudged and beautiful, and will help prevent it running. For a traditional smoky eye, choose a grey or a dark brown colour. One brilliant choice for an effortless smoky eye is the Jemma kidd Eye Wardrobe Quartet in Grey. This is an eye makeup product in a dark charcoal shade - exactly what you need for a smoky eye!

When you have applied the primer, use the Benefit Badgal Eyeliner Pencil to apply black eyeliner to the upper and lower lash line. After that, apply the charcoal eyeshadow over the entire eyelid. Apply a beige or neutral colour to the brow bone and blend downwards into the charcoal grey. Now comes the fun part! The quintessential look of the smokey eye is a slightly smudged effect. To achieve this look, use a clean makeup brush or cotton bud to smudge the black eyeliner on the lower lash line. This should look very natural, yet sexy and messy at the same time. You can also go a step further and apply some of the charcoal eyeshadow with a contour brush to the lower lash line for a more dramatic smoky look.

The next step is to curl your eyelashes, and apply several coats of Maybelline Volum' Express Lift-Up Volume & Lift Mascara. This will work to complete the smokey eye look and open up your eyes for a beautiful effect to your cosmetic application. It is important to apply a volumizing or lengthening mascara to make a difference in bringing out the final smoky eye.

But we're not finished yet! The final step is to comb your eyebrows, in order to frame your face. Select an eyeshadow colour that matches your brows, and lightly apply it with a clean contour brush. Apply a small quantity of eyeshadow to your brows and comb place. Et Voila! Your fabulous smokey eye look is complete.

can somebody explain to me what visine does to make eye shadow pop?

i never understood what visine did for eye shadow. do you dip your brush in visine before applying your eye shadow or what?

It's not just visine, but water or contact lens cleaner ( anything that is safe for your eyes if it were to get into them)

Wetting the eyeshadow powder intensifies the colour pigments. It makes them appear deeper - like anything that is wet. When it rains that old grey road looks almost brand new and black! The same thing with the eyeshadow making it pop more.

Yes you dip your brush in the visine ( or any other solution that is safe for your eyes). If you put it in your eyeshadow directly you'll ruin it.

Best results are loose powder eyeshadows not pressed. It will be easier to get the shadow out and stick. The wet shadow has more staying powder aswell.
