My friend emailed me pics of her gorgeous 10 month old baby girl which she had done professionally.They were great but i noticed on one pic her toe nails looked dark red, when i asked my friend she said she paints them to keep her quiet whilst painting her own nails.When i looked closer i could see it chipping away at the edges and when i said i couldnt do my baby cos she'd put them straight in her mouth she said her baby waits until their dry first.I told her it looked cute but im not sure where i stand on this one. Applying Mascara
Always apply your mascara in two coats. Place your finger near the middle of the lid and pull up to hold your lid taut. Hold the wand in a horizontal position, first apply only to the lash tips; and then sweep the mascara from your roots to the tips.
You need to leave each coat dry for about 5 minutes before applying the next coat. Don't rush it! When the first coat is dry, apply the second coat.
Applying Eyeliner
You can choose liquid eyeliner for a more dramatic eye or pencil eyeliner for a softer look. Everyone has their own preference. What you want to do is create the illusion of darkness around the exterior eye. Pull the skin taut and then start at the inner part of the lid, drawing a smooth thin line evenly across the upper lid. If you want a softer look then smudge the line using the smudger end on the pencil or a Q-tip.
Next, do the bottom lid. Extend your thin pencil line along the lash line. Try to get as close to the nose as possible for better definition. If you want a softer look, don't do your bottom lid. Also, remember you can fix any mistake with a Q-tip.
Applying Eye Shadow
The more traditional application involves applying the eye shadow right to the top of the lid using three shades. Medium tones are more neutral, light are effective for highlighting and dark contours.
Start by applying the first sweep of eye shadow across the entire lid. This is your medium toned shadow and can be silver brown, amaretto, antique gold, or platinum. If you want a little more drama, use khaki green, mauve, or Tahitian blue.
For more emphasis, you should add a darker shade of shadow along the crease of the eye. Good choices for dark include French Mocha, Terra Cotta, Nutmeg, Navajo Brown, and Wind. Finally use a lighter tone like French Vanilla to highlight the brow bone. You can use two or three shades for application.
One final tip, if you have wrinkles around the eye area that are making you look older, then use a wrinkle cream that works.

A LOT of babies and toddlers hate having someone put their fingers in their mouths. Honestly, how much do you enjoy that experience? Basically what you're doing is shoving your fingers and whatever you're trying to use to clean the teeth in his mouth, and it's probably freaking him out, or at least is DEFINATELY not a pleasant experience.
Get him a special toothbrush for early brushers, with a favorite character on it (I think there are Mickey Mouse and Winnie the Pooh ones). Use the Training Toothpaste (safe to swallow).
I sat my kids up on the bathroom counter with me (didn't leave them there, my hand was on them the whole time) and put a dab of the toothpaste on the brush then let them go to work. Typically, they would chomp on the toothbrush, but they liked the toothpaste so they kept it in their mouth. Then I would tell them to move the brush around.
No, early on, it wasn't a proper brushing technique, but it got the toothbrush (and toothpaste) IN their mouth, brushing up against the teeth. Around the second birthday, I'd do that but then take the brush from them and quickly do a proper job, showing them how to brush in circles and get all their teeth. What is the best mascara? This is one of the most commonly asked questions a Makeup Artist gets asked. I'd love to give you a simple answer with a specific brand and formula to go purchase. However, there is no such thing as one mascara that is best for everyone. The best mascara for you, your best friend and your mother are most likely, all different. Determining the best one for you depends on several factors. What best describes your lashes without makeup on and what do you feel is your main "beauty issue" with your eyelashes? Are they long but sparse? Thin and short? Directionally challenged? Droopy and hard to curl?
Now, think about the type of mascara look you prefer. Longer lashes is a given, but do you like a natural, no makeup look, a sophisticated look, obvious mascara or even chunky lashes ala Tammy Faye? The truth is there's a perfect mascara out there for everyone! You just have to know what you need and what each tube offers. That's where the mystery is and why we get so confused! The last time you went to a drug store for something to give your lashes a boost; you may have been mesmerized by the plethora of choices you had. While most brands offer a dozen or more mascara formulas all with different applicator wands and various color choices. Maybelline alone has 27 different mascara formulas to choose from.!
Naturally, we lose between 1 - 4 eyelashes a day and each lash takes between 4 - 6 weeks to grow back to our predetermined, genetic length. Waterproof and other hard to remove mascaras can cause excessive lash loss. Therefore, investing in a gentle eye make up remover to use on the delicate eye area is a much better investment than using soap which will also age the skin around the eyes. Eyelash hair is tapered, meaning that each hair is skinnier and nearly invisible at the tip. That is why even one light coat of the cheapest mascara can make a big difference. While many mascaras claim to do it all, read on for some eye opening tips.
To give the illusion of longer lashes, look for a lengthening formula with a small very skinny brush. These mascaras with their small applicator brush have a thin, more watery formula of mascara that just paints the lashes as they are. The skinny brush allows you to get color closer to the roots to elongate the illusion of the lashes.
A thickening formula is literally a thicker and often drier formula of ingredients to give the illusion of adding several coats at once. These formulas are a favorite for most of society. Finding ones that don't clump or crumble is hard but not impossible. The best ones have a very full applicator brush. For best results, try these application tips: Place the brush as close to the lash line as possible, wiggle the brush slightly so that lash hairs fall in between bristles then slowly comb outward in long strokes. Applying color to the tops of lashes is also a necessity for women with light lashes and for those that use light or shimmer eye shadow which leaves a powdery residue on the lash. However, coating the lashes on the top and underneath section with a thickening formula can become harsh looking. If this is your experience, then consider using the same technique with lengthening mascara.
Women with thick hair or hair that is hard to curl often have the same problem with their eyelashes. For those hard to curl or droopy lashes, many mascara formulas are so heavy that the weight of them can easily make a freshly curled lash droop in seconds. Mascaras that claim to actually curl the lashes are often just fast drying mascaras. Heat is known to set hair better and keep a curl. So try heating up the eyelash curler for a few seconds with a blow drier before curling lashes. Let lashes cool and then apply these fast drying formulas for best results. Be especially careful not to use the blow drier long enough to heat the metal part of the lash curler. Women trying this trick for the first time have been known to occasionally burn themselves.
For the woman with directionally challenged lashes, the non clump, lengthening formulas work best to avoid a messy, chunky look. Use a metal lash comb to separate and groom the lashes before mascara is dry to help them to not look clumpy. Some brands offer an applicator that literally looks like a comb which can give great results for those with lashes that overlap or seem to crisscross each other.

Create Great Curls
If you have just bought yourself some very expensive straighteners, or you are thinking about it, why not consider the idea of curling your hair with straighteners? You can get more controllable curls which are far easier to manage than your natural hair is!
Try:-
1. Make sure that your hair is semi-straight, or if not straighten it.
2. Spray on some heat-protection spray and then divide your hair into sections. The fewer the number of sections the tighter the curls will be.
3. Take the straightener and clamp it over the top of the section, then whilst pulling down the straighteners turn the straightener round. To produce a tighter curl clamp harder with the straighteners and pull harder when you bring it down.
4. Do not brush your hair after you have done this, but simply tease through with your fingers. And add some shine spray.
Another way to curl your hair that always creates great celebrity styles hair effect is to use some heated rollers. The type of rollers that you should get should depend on how long and thick your hair is, and how tight the curl that you want to achieve is.
I would recommend for short thin hair to use a straightener (the above method) or tongs, for thick medium length hair to use some medium sized heated rollers and for really long hair I would use some very large velcro rollers. Try using these on wet hair and then drying off with a hair dryer (be sure to have plenty of hair grips on hand however).

I have naturally curly hair & it is a monster to brush through. I have to rip & tear @ it. I've tried different conditions but can't seem to find 1 that helps me brush through. Any ideas? Thanks!

The best I've found so far is L'oreal Vive Pro Hydra Gloss for Dry Hair (yellow). If my hair is tangly I always reach for this one because the slip is AMAZING. I feel like knots literally melt out of my hair.If you can't find that kind the Nutri Gloss for curly or wavy hair (pink) is also good. Another good line of conditioner is Aubrey Organics which you can get at a whole foods or similar store. They're really moisturizing, but not as good for tangles in my opinion. The best kinds for curly hair are either Honeysuckle Rose or White Camellia. My favorite shampoo (very gentle) is Giovanni Tree Tea Triple Treat. I've found it at whole foods and ULTA.
