Macbook Pro kicking PCs off wireless home network!?
I have two PCs on a wireless network. I have a DSL router/modem combo provided by Verizon (its a Westell VersaLink model 327W), and both my PCs have D-Link DWL-520+ wifi PCI adapters. When ever I try to log in using my Macbook Pro's airport, both of the other computers lose their connection. The Macbookbook can connect fine, but i must turn it off and reboot the PCs to get them back online. Any thoughts?
Note: My dad's IBM Thinkpad notebook also caused a similar problem. Is there any router settings I should change, or should I try updated this ancient D-Link cards to something a little newer?

the only reason i can think of this can happen is a wrong setting in the router.
go to the router settings (has the address somewhat like 192.168.0.1 or similar) and check the entry "Maximum Number of DHCP users" - should be greater than the number of PCs you're using in your local network, i.e. 10.
Also check the entry "Starting IP address". the last 3 digits should be set around 100.

My last post covered the topic of proper quotation and punctuation usage but someone has asked me about the usage of double quotation marks. Double quotes are actually very common in screenplays, short stories, books and many other types of fictional settings.
While they are also common in non-fiction, they are not so common but the same rules will still apply. I do not wish to leave any writers out of the proverbial loop.
Most writers already know the fundamentals of using quotation marks. In many instances however, a character or characters in a novel setting will be quoting each other as well.
When this is in the form of a communication that is already in quotations, the secondary quote marks will become necessary. As can be seen in the title here, the secondary quote is punctuated by using a single quotation mark that looks like an apostrophe.
Most word processors will be able to differentiate the two and if not, an apostrophe will work just as well when you are typing something. If you are writing with pen and paper as I frequently do, if your handwriting is anywhere near as bad as mine is, nobody will ever be able to read it anyhow so it really does not matter as long as you can understand what is there and translate it when necessary.
Many writers will be familiar with the old "he said" and then "she said" in the telling of a story. "Oh my!" they exclaimed in unison as they made their way through the dark, dusty and dimly lit hallway.
However, a great portion of many stories involves interaction between the characters and references to other characters are often used within these dialogs. In these cases, when one character is quoting another, it is not important what the motive is either of the author or of the characters.
The rules will always be the same.
"I was talking to my friend the other day and they said 'the times are changing, darkness fills the air every day now' and then they told me of many other mysteries."
The actual quotation in the dialog between the characters was included in single quotes.
It may actually look very awkward when the quote within the character dialog is placed at the beginning or ending of a sentence however, but this should not deter you from using proper grammar. If you are like me and do not like the way it looks, you can always change the dialog around.
Still, since many people will see things differently, those examples need to be examined here as well.
"'Many are the mysteries of life!' he said to me as he was leaving."
In the preceding instance, the primary quotation is there because it is part of the character's dialog.
It is followed by the single quote to indicate that it was a quote within a quote.
When the quotation is at the end of the sentence, it will look the same but there is still the matter of punctuation to be considered as well so it can seem a little tricky at first. Just remember that if there is a complete thought or sentence within the quotation marks, the punctuation is also included inside of the quotes.
If the quotation is not a complete thought, the punctuation goes outside of the quotation marks.
"As I was walking back to my house after this eerie chance encounter, I was suddenly startled to see the same mysterious man. I do not know what surprised me more, the fact that he had been walking the other way when I left or when he looked at me and said 'Beware the darkness!'"
Notice that there is no additional punctuation for the sentence of the character's dialog but only of the quote. While this is not by any means the only correct answer to the problem of double quotations, it is one of the most common methods and will usually allow you to get your writing past the initial proofreader and into the editors desk for selection.
Certain styles of writing will require some variations and I must include that fact as a disclaimer. Additionally, while it may occasionally be necessary to include a tertiary quote, it is best avoided if possible. On those occasions when it is necessary, alternating between double and single quotation marks is the general rule to be followed.

Over the last decade in part of the general population there has been a growing movement (pardon the pun!) where people have embraced "natural" methods to help them prevent illness and reduce the risk of health problems occurring. One of the ways that this has been accomplished is through the adoption of a colon cleanse diet.
A colon cleansing diet does not need to be hard or torturous, although some people do go through a fasting and detoxification phase, which can sometimes be a little arduous, this is not necessary if the aim is to embrace a healthier diet from this point onwards.
It is a natural state for our colon to be clear of build up - there is no physiological reason why any of the foods we eat, once digested do not get expelled easily and naturally - However, this is not the case for large number of people.
The typical "western" diet consists of many hard to digest elements, and ones that as we evolved we are not equipped to deal with effectively over long periods.
Diets that are high in fat, contain a lot of red meat or processed meats, include a large proportion of processed foods, and contain little dietary fiber are the norm among large bodies (pardon the pun again!!) of the population.
Once a build up occurs in the colon, the body will normally be able to eliminate the waste matter, however, if this build up is allowed to progress, often due to poor diet and inactivity, it can lead to a position where the colon becomes narrower, which can cause constipation. It can also reduce the ability for the colon to absorb nutrients from the food.
This sort of environment is the ideal breeding ground for parasites, "unfriendly" bacteria and can encourage yeast overgrowth.

First off, you need to know what you have to avoid in your diet to improve colon health. Don't be put off by the list, it may seem that this is a list of all the foods you enjoy, but we will come to the foods that are fine to include in a candida diet soon.
Foods to restrict/ avoid include:
o Black tea and coffee
o Pasteurized milk
o Sugar laden cookies, potato chips and other junk foods
o Sodas
o Alcohol
o Foods from fast food joints
o Fatty (fried) foods
o Avoid smoking (not a food but important to restrict or eliminate)
This list can seem harsh, especially if you view coffee as the crutch that can get you through the day, and cookies and potato chips gives us great company when where watching TV. While it is recommended to avoid them, having a little bit once in a while will not adversely effect the diet if the rest of the diet is maintained. Just have enough discipline to limit yourself.
Here is an example of a healthy colon cleansing diet:
For breakfast, you can have fresh fruits and fruit juices, in fact, an apple can work better in giving a boost of energy to a person than coffee, as the inevitable "caffeine low" is avoided. You may also have prunes, low salt low fat cottage cheese, oatmeal cereal, natural sheep and goat yoghurt, and some boiled or poached eggs from time to time.
For lunch options include fresh vegetable salad with no dressing, brown rice, steamed vegetables, cottage cheese pumpernickel sandwich, vegetable soup, or sprouted beans.
For dinner, you may have more salad, grilled or steamed fish, cottage cheese or a small omelette.
For snacks, dried fruits would do fine.

Is there a natural or organic alternative to powdered kitten milk replacer that has correct nutrients?
I goggled this and since there is organic baby formula for humans I am surprised there isn't organic or natural kitten milk replacer that I know of. I have heard goats milk will work.
This is for my ferret who needs to put on some weight. I was told to give her the kitten milk replacer but I do not like the ingredeints. I am really surprised there is no commercial product available.
Is this just for a treat or for bottle feeding?
if the latter you can google kitten glop and many recipes will come up. straight goats milk will not be sufficient on its own.
KMR is completely safe to use. I work in kitten rescue and have used it many times. My current kitten was on it for 8 weeks and is fine. I doubt there is a very high demand for natural organic kitten formula and prices would be sky high if it were available.
If the ingredients in kitten glop are ferret safe I'd think it would work fine. Its usually a bit higher in calories than KMR so less is needed in each meal.

Tonalism, a Western Painting style, was witnessed among American artists during 1880-1915. Emphasizing completely on the effects of shadow and light over details and colors, this art form usually includes Landscape Paintings in low-toned shades. While early Tonalist works have been found to be dark and moody, with an extremely soft focus and understated hues, the style has evolved with time to make use of warmer colors.
The Styles
Early Tonalist painters have been known to follow either one of the following two commonest trends:
o Soft Style - The French Barbizon School and the works of popular Tonalist George Inness (1825-94) represent it. A few remarkable landscapes of the genre often include precise details, such as the bright vast skies, painted dexterously to capture a variety of shades.
o Aesthetic Style - The second approach to Tonalism is best expressed in the works of Aesthetic Tonalist James McNeil Whistler (1834-1903). Whistler studied Japanese Art, owing to which he usually focused on following an uncomplicated approach when it came to painting. His compositions were strikingly simple, where he freely used dark colors in an attempt to enhance the dramatic effect, and often stuck to a limited palette.
The Details
Although, this remarkable genre of painting originated in America, it was largely influenced by the landscapes belonging to the Hudson River School and the French paintings from both, Luminism and the Barbizon School. Numerous foreign artists, trained in Paris and Munich, not only paved the path for the modification of the prevailing Hudson River Art School, but also introduced alterations in the enormously detailed panoramic images of the American scenes. All these influences resulted into the increasing taste for a more poetic, expressive, and intimate style of Landscape Painting. Tonalism accorded a plenty of scope to communicate emotions and expressions through simple brushstrokes. The Tonalists from America tended to make use of a relatively neutral palette of calm shades, such as blue, green, violet, and mauve, along with the delicate hues of grays. These colors were modulated with utmost care, in order to create dominant and bold tones. The artists generally chose to paint the scenes of dusk or dawn, milky moonbeam, and misty atmosphere.
The Artists
Most of the first generation Tonalists were born in or after 1845. Apart from the two veterans mentioned above, Edward Mitchell Bannister (African American - 1828-1901), Jean Charles Cazin (French - 1840-1901), Henry Farrer (English born American - 1844-1903), Max Meldrum (Scottish - 1875-1955), and American painters, such as Bruce Crane (1857-1937), Leon Dabo (1865-1960), Thomas Dewing (1851-1938), Charles Warren Eaton (1857-1937), Percy Gray (1869-1952), Xavier Martínez (1869-1943), Arthur F. Mathews (1860-1945), Granville Redmond (1871-1935), Henry Ward Ranger (1858-1916), Albert Pinkham Ryder (1847-1917), Edward Steichen (1879-1973), Dwight William Tryon (1849-1925), & John Twachtman (1853-1902), were some other great Tonalists.
By 1915, European Modernism and Impressionism completely overshadowed the popularity of Tonalism however. Soon, an interesting 'toned' era ended.

Is there any good free or relatively cheap video editing software?
I have Windows Movie Maker, but I'd really like some kind of software that offers more ways to change the look of the video, especially a way to tweak the color/tint of the video, and add soft focus.
Are there any programs like this that are available as a free trial, or for less than $30.00?
Or is there any way to buy new effects for Windows Movie Maker?
