When a 65-year-old neck looks like a 30-year-old's, you may want to pay attention to what I have learned making up my face.
After practicing the art of retaining whatever youth I can hold onto for over 51 years, sampling dozens of products, I have made some helpful general philosophy discoveries.
THINGS TO DO--
1. Be Good to Yourself: If what you try doesn't smell good or feel good, get rid of it.
2. Be Good to Your Skin: Do whatever it takes to keep it clean, moisturized, and blemish free, and do it every single day.
3. Make your Makeup Work for You-- Do whatever you need to to learn what your color palette is, as in what colors look well on you. Learn your own personal preferences by experimenting on different products. Do you like oil-based or water-based makeup best?
4. Invest In Great Moisturizers--See what works for you. Dare to do only half of your face for three weeks and see if you notice anything. Don't be afraid to use more than one. Right now, I use three. Buy yourself some glycerine; it is in all the great moisturizers.
THINGS I HAVE LEARNED NOT TO DO--
1. Don't Forget to Moisturize Your Neck--Three sisters and I were sitting at an outside cafe commiserating about the effect of age. The youngest said, Just look at my crepe neck. I said, Want to know why your neck doesn't match your face? Of course, she wanted to; they were all ears. Because you have neglected your neck and stop moisturizing at your chin line. She said, Look at her perfect neck.
2. Don't Put Concealer Under Your Makeup--It belongs to really conceal, on top of the makeup. (After 40, I learned I look better when I put concealer under my eyes and around my mouth. After 50, I learned that I needed to go clear around the eyes, over the puppet lines under my nose, around the pleats above my lips, between my eyes, and over my forehead unless I am wearing bangs.)
3. Don't Use Powered Eye Shadow, Eyebrow Color or Blush--Cream stays where you put it and it does not get into your eyes, float down to your cheeks from your eyes or onto your clothes.
4. Don't Use Power Puffs Over Makeup Unless You're Out--You get a much better look by putting whatever powder you choose on with a power brush.
5. Don't Let Your Eyebrows Tell You Where They Belong--Eyebrows are not smart. Avoid letting them dictate what look you want over your eyes. If they grow across your face and touch each other, put a space between them. If they look like the bushes Groucho Marx had on his face, pluck them thinner. If they shrink and thin as you age, elongate and make them thicker. As a rule, your eyebrows should follow the natural bone line up from your nose and definitely begin before your eye does.
6. Don't Waste Your Money on 4-Step Washing and Toning Regimes Twice a Day--I wash my face with soap each morning with a rough cloth, rinse it well and tone it with Witch Hazel. An 85-year old who saw me washing my face with soap, whose face has ruts so deep it looks like the Road runner has been doing non-stop laps, said, Oh, Barbara, you shouldn't use soap on your face. It dries it out. I've creamed my face clean all my life. Just try it. The following night, I used her cream. Then, I asked her to watch an experiment. After I wiped off all the cream, I then took a cloth and washed my face with soap. She was shocked at all the makeup her creme missed.

It depends on the type of bag you want. I have a sling pack (backpack style) that only cost me $10 from PCmall. A good laptop bag can run upwards of a couple of hundred dollars (not worth it in my boot). Go to PCmall or tigerdirect as they both have a huge selection of bags and backpacks.

Last night I was at a show. The women looked so glamourous, and their make-up was so beautiful. Later, backstage, they looked garish and old up close.

If a cosmetic company creates a chemical that penetrates the skin and the skin cell, it would be considered a drug, not a cosmetic and require a doctors prescription. Vinegar

Again, this should not be used in its pure form and it is highly recommended that you use white vinegar. Mix a third of a cup of the vinegar with a two-thirds cup of water. Then blot it on the area where the stain is (this is especially helpful with beer stains that give off an odor). Then use a sponge and some water to blot that area again to absorb the stain and liquid off the carpet.
Rubbing Alcohol
Here's one household item that you can actually use in its pure form. Rubbing alcohol is especially useful in removing stubborn and sticky stains such as ink. It will help remove the stickiness from the ink so that it can be wiped off easily. Rubbing alcohol can also be used to remove blood stains as well but perhaps a little water will be needed to help remove it further.
Carpet cleaning emergencies can be solved by these simple household liquid items. This is a great way on how to clean carpet stains minus the hassle of going to the department store and wasting time as a spill sets into your rug.
Can anybody please give me any good tips to make a light fluffy melt in the mouth sponge. The best cheat for a light sponge is to use club soda instead of milk. (Or Sprite for the slight lemon/lime tang.) Definitely use cake flour instead of all purpose or self-rising.
Otherwise use the recipe as directed.

Acting as a shield, a barrier against stains, they soak up the moisture from a sweaty glass, and hold it within themselves, keeping water damage from spreading to your possessions. However the problem is who protects the coasters from those stains? Can you purchase a permanent set of absorbent drink coasters, or are you relegated to the fleeting functionality of less sophisticated disposable models.
First a quick overview of disposable coasters; these consist of paper, cork, sponge, and other low cost material coasters. Their purpose is to be cheap, and effective, once or twice, and then to be tossed. This is the most common choice for a bar or restaurant, because they are easy to replace and purchase in bulk. You can even get them printed up with a particular logo or graphic.
The problem with these coasters is that they get soggy and nasty pretty quickly. They are also obviously cheep, and don't have much decorative style to them. The alternative to these temporary accessories are the new absorbent sandstone and slate coasters which are available. These coasters are made from natural stone materials, which have existed since the earth was formed. Natural properties in these materials, allows them to absorb the moisture from a liquid spill or drip, taking the water into its pores, and holding it inside of the stone. While the water is trapped in the stone, air can and does still reach it, and this causes the liquid to evaporate away.
These stone coasters are great, because they can theoretically last forever. The water goes into the coaster, but it will always evaporate away, without causing much damage to the piece.
The problem is that stone is just a natural material, and sometimes, it can stain. When a colored liquid such as juice or sauce falls on the surface of the sandstone, suddenly that absorbent property is a liability, because it will allow the stain to soak down past the surface of the stone, discoloring it from the inside.
If a staining agent does fall on your coasters there are certain things you can do. Soaking the stone in warm water will often allow you to extract the coloring agent. You can also use heat to try and melt the agent. These methods will be most effective, by far; if they are done immediately after the stain occurs.
Another absorbent alternative is to purchase slate coasters. Slate is another natural stone, and it does have absorbent properties, however slate is less absorbent than sandstone, cork, paper, or just about anything else out there. When a wet glass is placed on a slate coaster, drips of water will fall on the surface and sit there, slowly seeping into the stone. It won't be immediate, but it will have enough suction to keep the water from spilling off over the side of the coaster onto your furnishings.
The fact that they are less absorbent means that they are also resistant to stains, and can survive staining agents much better, and for a much longer period of time, than most of their counterparts.
Absorbent coasters are some of the most useful and functional accessories that are available for your home. They can protect your possessions, while still being stylish, elegant, and customizable. However they do have several drawbacks, most notably of which is their ability to get stained by certain liquid agents. This can make some absorbent coasters more permanent then others. In the end, you will have to balance functionality with durability, to find the perfect set for your situation.

i need to know if the disposable sponge for make up can be used again?
once i use a disposable sponge for applying make up, the next time when i plan to use that same sponge, the part which was used for applying foundation becomes dark. so i thought if i wash it and then use it again it would be better. but im not sure if after being washed the stain of the foundation on the sponge would go or not or if the sponge would be used again. so can anyone tell me if i can wash it or should i buy another disposable sponge for makeup?
You can wash them with anti bacterial soap and let them air dry. Try washing them once a week. You can buy high quality anti-microbial sponges too for like $3 for one. They're washable too.

What Is Mineral Makeup?
Mineral makeup is designed from all naturally occurring products. It is often recommended by dermatologists to women with sensitive skin, rosacea, post operative, laser and other procedures because of its intrinsic skin soothing and anti-inflammatory properties. It is a powder makeup of finely milled minerals. It can provide very sheer or very opaque coverage, depending on the formulation and application. However, it still allows natural skin radiance to show through, so you don't get the dreaded "mask" look. It is typically free of fragrance and preservatives. Minerals cannot feed bacteria, so there is no danger of spoilage, thus it needs no preservatives. It does not go bad. It is very good for oily skin because it has several oil- absorbing components.
It is usually applied with a brush, and is typically shown to be "buffed" into the skin. This technique forces the makeup into your pores, which is never a good thing. A technique that works with better quality mineral makeup (which we'll discuss later) is to "dust" the makeup on, instead of "buffing" it. If a brush irritates your skin, you can also use a non-latex or flocked sponge. Application can be done either wet or dry.
What Are The Ingredients?
This is the most important part. Learning what is in your makeup will give you the ability to choose what will meet your needs best. These are the ingredients you will most likely come across.
· Titanium Dioxide- A white natural sunscreen and anti-inflammatory agent. It is highly reflect, with only a diamond being higher, and thus minimizes fine lines and some skin discolorations.
· Sericite- A colorless mica that can be used to cut the opacity of Titanium Dioxide and also works as an oil absorber.
· Cornstarch/ Rice Powder- Cosmetic grade- An oil humectant (draws oil out of the pores). Can make acne worse as it is a source of food for bacteria.
· Kaolin Clay- Natural oil-absorption.
· Mica- Natural "glitter". Provides shimmer and sparkle.
· Iron Oxides- Natural pigment- very opaque. Used for tinting cosmetics.
Ingredients To Avoid
These ingredients are also common, but can cause problems so are best to avoid.
· Talc/ Various Powders- Common fillers- can cause respiratory problems.
· FD&C Dyes- Derived from coal tar.
· Bismuth Oxychloride- Known skin irritant- causes itching, rashes and breakouts. Especially prevalent when the wearer sweats.
· Ferric Ferrocyanide- Controversial because of its suspected toxicity.
· Carmine- Crushed beetles.
What Brand Should I Buy?
Well, if you're familiar with mineral makeup, it's likely you've seen the infomercials. After further research you'll find these companies use controversial ingredients, and charge quite a bit for their products.
There are several good mineral makeup companies out there that provide a much better product at a more affordable price, as well as a superior customer experience. Forehead sweating is a condition that is increasingly affecting more and more people each new day a majority of these will by those suffering from a condition known as hyperhidrosis. In all but a few cases the condition is worsened by our habits knowingly or otherwise.
It is not uncommon to find people complaining of excessive sweating yet when you look critically at what they are using or applying to sweat prone areas ninety percent of the time these will be sweat inducers.
Why for example would you use tightly fitting shoes if you knew you are likely to sweat, similarly using certain cosmetic products when you are experiencing forehead sweating is not a good idea. If you want to stop forehead sweating avoid facial creams at all costs because not all creams are good for the skin most of them affect the sweat glands negatively. If you must use creams then go for light ones.
