Each time I leave Mombasa, I feel as though I have left a little piece of me behind. There's something about the character of the place and the people that is beautiful and unpretentious, and leaves me with a sense of wonderment.
Mombasa is the epitome of captivating scenery, with its soft white sandy beaches, swaying palms and azure Indian Ocean. I have found that one of the most enjoyable ways to explore the beaches in Mombasa is atop a camel. Camel rides are offered on the beaches outside most beach hotels and resorts at negotiable rates. There are also a variety of beach vendors selling locally made beautifully carved wooden and soapstone curios, jewellery, batiks, paintings and 'khangas' (traditional pieces of brightly coloured fabric worn by East African women as a wrap-around garment) amongst other items. If you are up for a couple of hours of sitting on the beach while someone tugs at your hair, you can also get your hair braided or have Wanja (black henna) applied on your hands or as a temporary 'tattoo'! If the heat is getting to you, there are plenty of hawkers selling refreshing 'Madafu' (coconut water) right out of the baby coconuts.
But Mombasa is also so much more than just sun and sand. If you are able to tear yourself away from the beaches, there is an abundance of places to explore and things to experience in and around Mombasa that will make your trip that much more fulfilling.
Located in the heart of town on Mombasa's ever-busy Moi Avenue is its famous landmark depicted by two pairs of giant intersecting tusks which spell the letter 'M' for Mombasa. These 'Tusks' were built directly on the path from the port to the town to honour the visit of Queen Elizabeth to the town in 1952. Moi Avenue provides an interesting opportunity for exploration as it is lined with a double row of souvenir shops and stalls.
One of the most popular tourist attractions in Mombasa is the famous Fort Jesus, built in the shape of a man by the Portuguese in the late 16th Century about a mile from the old Swahili and Arab town in order to guard the Old Port of Mombasa. Today the Fort houses a museum and you can view the torture rooms and prison cells where slaves were held in captivity.
Exotic old town Mombasa is steeped in history and features styles and traditions common to coastal Swahili villages and late 19th century Indian and British colonial architecture. Although most of the houses here are no more than about a hundred years old, they present beautifully intricate carved doors and door frames modelled on Swahili designs. The narrow winding streets and busy markets here are alive with the vibrant colours of the traditional coastal 'khangas' worn by both men and women. This area of Mombasa is definitely worth exploring and walking guides are readily available.
If flora and fauna are what you're looking for then the three places that are a must-visit are Haller Park in Bamburi, Shimba Hills game reserve and the famous Mamba Village in Nyali. Haller Park is Mombasa's largest animal sanctuary and is home to a variety of animals and botanical gardens. It is also home to famous best friends Owen the Hippo and Mzee the tortoise. The Shimba Hills game reserve is located south of Mombasa and is a tropical rain forest known for its abundant wildlife, renowned for its night-time game viewing and is also home to the rare sable antelope. The Mamba Village is East Africa's largest crocodile farm where you can witness these remarkable beasts fight for food during feeding time in the evenings.
So the next time you're in Mombasa, aim to venture outside of your hotel and soak up the culture and history of the island...and I guarantee you, you won't be disappointed!

molding, doors, windows, chair-rail moldings, then baseboards, save wear and tear on your knees when painting baseboards by wearing knee pads or by kneeling on a cushion. The edge of woodwork is sometimes curved or very narrow, less than one inch, making it difficult to paint them neatly. Vertical edges of windows and door casings not only are narrow but also are often at an angle that is difficult to reach easily with a paintbrush.
It is sometimes a good idea to paint the woodwork before painting the walls,
overlapping the walls slightly as you work on the woodwork. You find it easier to
paint a straight edge along a wall than along the edges of narrow or curved
woodwork. Be sure to protect freshly painted woodwork when working with a roller
on walls. Before removing paint from woodwork, test the surface for old lead paint.
The dust produced by sanding can carry the lead paint throughout the house,
posing a serious health threat.
Painting woodwork requires a slightly different technique than covering the walls
and ceilings does. The sweeping motions of using a roller give way to the control
and precision of using a brush on a small surface. Also, brush marks are more likely
to occur on wood than on plaster or drywall. You can choose a bold color to
contrast with the color of walls and ceilings, or use the woodwork as a frame to
highlight the color of the walls. If the woodwork is quite ordinary, you can make it
blend into the background.
Whether the woodwork has been painted before or not, wood must be properly
prepared before being painted. In general, this means filling any cracks and holes
and then sanding the surface. To sand concave surface, wrap the paper around a
section of hose or pipe. Large flat surfaces can be sanded with a sheet of paper
wrapped around a wood block. The sanding gives the surface tooth, or something to
which the new paint can adhere.

Which Oral-B electric toothbrush should I buy?
My house has a bunch of extra Oral-B Floss Action brush heads and no one's using them because well.. no one in my family has an electric toothbrush anymore.
So my mom said I could get a toothbrush so the heads wouldn't go to waste.

I hope it does! I was reading some positive results on a couple of forums, about the healing power of tea, and more specifically 'Chinese Anti Acne Tea'. After a bit of searching I found this product, and ordered two packs by express post (I am impatient).
Why Two packs?
Well there are 25 bags in each pack, and they recommend 3 cups of tea a day, so that makes almost 18 days - a good test period, and if it does work I should be able to see some results before it runs out.
So what exactly is this "Chinese Anti-Acne Tea"?
Well the website says it "is a natural Traditional Chinese Medicine herbal formulation used for teenage acne and other toxic type skin conditions"
I decided to look at the ingredients:

7. Tian hua fen - this one kind of scares me as it says it is used to induce abortions, which can't be good. I can't see any real benefit in this herb as it is said to treat abscesses, amenorrhea, jaundice, frequent urination, and tumors.

Ok, that sounds all good and all, but lets see if it actually works. I wont be changing anything else about my diet, or my daily routine, except adding the 3 cups of tea each day.

Not really. You want to wash it with soap and water. AB wipes won't clean it or kill enough bacteria to prevent infection.
They may also damage the costly ink.

Certainly, in today's electronic age we are spoiled for choice. There was a time when it was a messenger on a horse or the town crier who spread the word - and of course the local pub and word of mouth is still a huge player. But since the printed word came about - widely in the 1600's there have been an ever increasing number of ways of promoting your product or spreading your message leaflet distribution being the cutting edge technology of the time. And, as you might expect, they have been getting bigger and more effective as time as moved on and technology has advanced.
Up until the internet came along it was undoubtedly out hypnotic friend the TV that dominated the scene and was by far and away the top dog. It overtook the magazines and newspapers after the second world war and even today probably still holds the number one spot - just. To be honest with BBC iPlayer and 4OD the edges have become a little blurred. The beauty of the web is it reaches to further and further corners of the world instantly. Even broadcast TV took the time for different countries to pick up a programme - very often translate it and then broadcast it. Many never made the transition - and so there was variety in the world and one travelled abroad to broaden ones mind rather than look for the sun.
From our point of view this has made English an increasingly common language - largely the lingua franca of the web. Pity it isn't copyrighted. But does all this extra for of high tech communication mean that the old forms die off? Do we stop talking in the pub, in the smoking area outside work or talking by the water cooler? With all this going on you may think that one of the oldest forms of marketing died some time ago. You'd be quite wrong to think so though - door to door leaflet distribution is actually alive and well and still flourishing in most parts of the world - even the UK.
Fabulous though PC's and all their technology are the simple action of picking up a leaflet dropped though your letter box is going to inform even the most unwilling recipient that \Domino's has a special on 18" pizzas or that the Jet Washer man are in your area. By the law of averages - and this has always been true - for every 1,000 leaflets delivered one person is indeed wanting to clean their patio and four do indeed fancy a pizza. I don't know if they did take away pizza back in 1610 but if it was "Charles' Pasties" I bet he had the pony out delivering four of them that Friday and I'll wager that in the year 2525, if man is still alive, that Hans Solo will be delivering four pizzas on his hover board - so long as he remembers to do his leaflet delivery anyway.
So what you sell has much to do with how you promote it. Many things can and should be promoted in many forms - most things in fact. Some are better suited to one form than another. Bin washing, driveway cleaning, fast food delivery, local government information still all do well by a simple handout. So long as the volume doesn't get silly these are very handy for the end user too. A leaflet in your pocket or on the hall table is accessible - email isn't always, even Blackberries get flat batteries or left at home. So here's to leaflet distribution and allthe work it generates for their users and the hardy folk who do it. Long may it continue to flourish.

Okay, I bought a pc game for my daughter (Pony Luv) and it requires either Nvidia GeForce 3 or greater OR ATI Radeon 8500 or greater. I found a GeForce FX 5500 256MB AGP graphics card for £20. Is this more powerful than the required card.
Secondly are graphics cards easy to install (in the way RAM is easy to install) or would i be better off leaving that to the pros

If you need a GeForce 3 or greater the FX 5500 is better than you need. I would say go with that one, as for installation I would leave it to the pros.
