Definition of foundation, or base: A skin colored makeup applied to the face to cover blemishes, lines, dryness, oiliness, or uneven skin tones. If you already have perfect skin, you can stop reading this now. Ok, on to some honest, basic info for the rest of us 'real women.' We will go over some problem areas and give results of how to correct the appearance of each. There are five possible skin imperfections that foundation can help to minimize:
1. Blemishes:
A. Start with a light oil free lotion.
B. Use a blemish stick that calms and covers. Dab directly onto the blemish (using ring finger to blend if needed)
C. If step A leaves you feeling comfortable and confident, Don't apply any more face makeup. If you need just a bit more coverage, skip to step E.
D. Apply an oil-free liquid base makeup with a sponge applicator. Pay special attention to the neck line, blending downward a bit to prevent a 'mask' look.
E. Seal the face by using a large brush to apply loose powder. Avoid the compressed powders with the spongy applicators, as these close the pores to much, causing blemishes to become worse.
2. Lines:
A. Start with a facial lotion that contains spf. Blocking the sun out will help to prevent further wrinkles.
B. Apply a smooth satin, crème foundation with spf using a sponge applicator.
C. Use a large brush to apply loose powder, only if needed! Please skip this step if not needed. You will look lovely for about the first hour, but as the day wears on, the powder will seep into the lines, causing them to be more visible.
3. Dryness:
A. Start with a good all day moisturizer.
B. Apply a crème to powder foundation. This is done in one step usually. Most brands come with an applicator sponge. Use the one provided, as it will usually blend the best. Avoid using your fingers, as this can result in a 'streaky' look.
C. Lucky you, there is no step C, your base and powder were in one step!
4. Oiliness:
A. Don't skip on the lotion. You may feel like you don't need it, because your skin is oily. That is not true though. If you attempt to dry out the skin by avoiding lotion, your skin will produce even more oil. So go ahead and dab some oil free lotion on before your makeup.
B. Apply an oil free liquid base with a sponge applicator.
C. Dust the entire face with loose powder using a large brush.
D. If your face gets oily throughout the day. Do not apply more powder, as this will close the pores to much, producing even more oil and possibly blemishes.
5. Uneven Skin Tone:
A. Begin with a soft, silky lotion.
B. Choose a powder to base foundation that matches you neck. Apply with the sponge applicator that comes with the foundation.
C. That's it, you look great. No need to keep applying more if the imperfection has been dealt with.
oRemember, an overdone foundation will ruin the look of the whole canvas!
oIf your skin gets to shiny during the day, use facial towels (or at least tissue paper) to blot the access oil off the face.
oNatural beauty needs room to come through to. Don't over-cover all the imperfections you see, they may be beautiful to others =)
how do u get makeup to to blend with ur face?
i use trueblend and the stuff doesn't seem to want to blend with my face. even if i rub it in really good it still seems to show up in flakes after awhile or make my face a look like i suck at putting cover up on. any suggestions?
I've heard that Trueblend isnt exactly the best stuff out there..
Honestly, the very best stuff i've ever used, and im not kidding, i usually have trouble with blending and im verry picky about this stuff, but i use "Revlon ColorStay makeup with SoftFlex". It's like...amazing. It looks totally natural and lasts all day. I've never found a better foundation than this. (lol people sometimes think im not even wearing any makeup, they say it looks so natural, unline covergirl foundation i used to use which looked very unnatural)
You should at least try Revlon Colorstay. It's found at places like Target or Walmart or Walgreens. It's only about 10 dollars, maybe even less. Depends but there's usually a coupon for revlon for about 2 dollars off. It's a good deal in my opinion, because the stuff lasts for, hm.. maybe 6 months.
here's a website that shows what it looks like just so ya know. http://www.revlon.com/colorstayguarantee/index.asp

While most makeup compacts come with mini brushes for application, it's quite helpful to have a good set of personal makeup brushes instead. The small brushes placed in compact blush and eye shadows don't often last long or apply the makeup well. Purchasing a set of makeup brushes is a good investment and one that shouldn't be too expensive.
When choosing makeup brushes, there are several different types of brushes to look for. First, you'll want to look for a large powder brush. These brushes have a large, round top with thick, soft bristles and are best used for applying powder evenly to the face. Powder brushes can be used for bronzer but should not to be confused with their slightly smaller counterpart, the blush brush. The blush brush is the perfect size to apply blush to just the right parts of the face. Using a powder brush for blush can often lead to lack of control as to where the color goes. Using a blush brush will give the definition and coverage you're looking for.
The majority of makeup brushes are used for the eyes. You should certainly look for a basic eye-shadow brush, usually just a small square of bristles for applying color all over the eyelid and beyond. However, if you're planning to use various makeup effects on the eyes, you'll also find it helpful to choose an angle brush for applying makeup neatly into the crease as well as on the outer corner. A fine-tip brush works well for adding eye liner or a line of dark eye shadow right on the lash line for an outstanding effect.
Finally, there are lip brushes. These brushes are typically fine-tipped and have very sturdy bristles. They are used to apply lip liner, lip gloss, or lipstick evenly and correctly. Because of the makeup being applied with lip brushes, you may need to wash them more frequently than the other types of makeup brushes.
Look for brushes made with natural fibers which will not irritate your skin or fall apart easily. Every couple of weeks, wash the makeup brushes in warm, sudsy water to remove any build up of makeup or dead skin cells. Store your makeup brushes in a moisture-free, clean bag or container and be sure they are not crushed under layers and layers of beauty products. Finally, if makeup brushes begin to wear out, spend a couple dollars and buy some new ones. Makeup brushes will not break your bank, but they will change the way you apply makeup.

How can I avoid brush burns while playing mini hockey?
My family just remodeled the basement and I play mini hockey there a lot and the rug is somewhat rough. Is there any thing you could suggest that would be comfortable for my knees and not get brush burns?
Plastic shin guards for things like street hockey can be purchased cheap at sporting good stores, and may allow for more sliding, which could give it a more authentic feel.

How do you apply Mac Studio Tech powder/foundation thing.?
Okay so today I went to Mac, and they did my whole face and I ended up getting the Studio Tech Foundation thats the powder stuff and the Studio Finish Concealer and a lip gloss and the 242 for the Concealer I got.
But I didn't get the foundation brush she used, and I can't go back up to the place I got it cause it's an hour and a half away. So what I do have that I could use to apply it is, the sponge that it come with, another makeup sponge, a powder brush from a small sephora kit, and that's it.
What should I do? I might be able to go somewhere tomorrow and get a stippler brush though, if that would be better.
Oh and I have a foundation brush that the powder brush came with.
You don't have to go all the way to MAC to get a good brush. You can check any CVS or possibly Walgreen's and look for the Essence of Beauty Kabuki Brush or the Pure Powder Brush Face. They are really great brushes and that's the founation I use, so I know it works well with those brushes. And they are both under $10!
Natural redheads are really rare. This is why so many women covet red hair colors and attempt to dye their hair. Many people are unsatisfied with the results because it is the hardest color to fake. There are too many shades in a natural redhead hair to get a good result from a bottle.
The problem is that many people take dye jobs into their own hands. This means they have probably picked up a bottle of dye at the grocery store - a bottle which was one of few other choices in terms of hue. It therefore will end up looking very awkward and unnatural, causing many women to dye their hair back. For the best results, you should see a stylist.
Of all the shades of red, strawberry blond is the worst when it is faked. The combination of red and blond almost always turns out to be a horrific, brassy orange. The reason for this is that redheads tend to have multi-colored strands of hair, changing when the light hits it. They have more than just high and low-lights like other hair colors.
One thing many people forget when they dye their hair is to dye their eyebrows as well. This is often an indicator of a faker. Few natural redheads have extremely dark eyebrows. Redheads have light eyebrows, so if yours are already blond, leave them. If yours are dark, try going slightly auburn. You will be amazed at how more realistic the rest of your hair looks if you do this. Just never dye your eyebrows the same shade of red as your hair.
Eyelashes are another way for people to tell if someone is faking their hair color. You can always get your eyelashes dyed at a salon, but it may just be easier to go for mascara of a different color than you usually get. Look up makeup specific for redheads--it is a growing market. You can then get dark auburn mascara which will look less harsh than black.
Keep in mind that your skin coloring has a great deal to do with how realistic the color looks. If you have pale skin, you are more likely to look natural with it. Pick a pale shade of red. In this case, you will be able to get away with wearing just about any shade. If you are darker or have heavy freckles, light red hair might look silly. Go more the russet route and stay away from red clothes.
Try it in stages if your hair is already dark. Get red highlights and if you like them, get more. Dark auburn is a way to sneak into being a redhead. Blonds, unfortunately, have to just go for it. Their hair could look orange if they got highlights, or the red could be extremely noticeable from the rest of their hair color. Try for something less intense your first few goes.
Read more about red hair colors before making your final decision.
If eyelashes are rough/brittle/stiff/heavy, does that mean they are infested with eyelash mites?
Every once in a while, I feel my eyelashes.
I know it sounds weird but it relaxes me and gives me a calm/soothing feeling.
BTW, my eyelashes are usually soft and light.
But, lately when I feel my eyelashes, they feel rough/brittle/stiff/heavy.
Could this mean my eyelashes are infested with eyelash mites??
If not, could something else be wrong with them??
I know too many eyelash mites burrowing into the same eyelash follicle can cause the eyelash to fall out. But, I haven't seen any fall out recently or I just haven't noticed that they had fallen out!
I'm just concerned why my once soft/light eyelashes have suddenly become tough/brittle/stiff/heavy?
Thanks to anyone with a useful answer.
stop playing with one of the most delicate skin/hair areas on your body!
touching them cause a loss of natural elasticity and takes away the very small amount of oil the eyelash has from your natural skin and strips it to a brittle line. Eyelashes are tiny and weak for a reason, to be regrown often and shed eaily so you can keep the sand and grit out of your eye. Your eyelid skin is extremely sensitive and delicate, hardest area to change easy area to have permenent damage and never recede.
Don't use heavy or overly astingent creams or tonics on your face, weakens the lashes too.
Careful with soap. and with mascara, should be replaced every three months for faster, bacterial decay and the stuff in the make up ruins your eyelashes, so use it for mild effect and rarely or lose your thick lashes.

Know of a good liquid eyeliner not tested on animals?
I'm looking for a good liquid eyeliner that is not tested on animals. Or possible a draw-on pencil-type eyeliner. I usually use Bare Escentuals make-up, but the powder eyeliner is just not working for me. Advice please?
urban decay eyeliners and liquid liners are good!
all of urban decay's products are NOT tested on animals which is great!!
it should be on the website. The Sephora store has signs all over the urban decay counter saying all of their products are not tested on animals
The eyeliners and liquid liners are very good and stay on very good
If you are a resident of an area that is not well-respected for its lawfulness then you may have seen some or many of your neighbors install an outdoor flood light in their backyard, garden, patio or main entrance. The reason behind installation of these lights is safety and security. A powerful outdoor flood light is expected to light up the area of focus. As a result, any unwanted activity going on inside the premises gets spotted easily.
Let's say that you stay in an area that becomes rather dark in the evening. The street lighting does not help either. Also, your area has been getting criminal disturbances, burglaries and unpleasant events of other sorts of late. In such a case, you would want to install an outdoor flood light. While installing the light, make sure that you set the focus of the light to the area that you consider to be vulnerable. Once you switch the light on in the evening, the entire area will be under focus. With the cover of darkness gone, miscreants will not dare to try and perform antisocial activities within your area of focus. So your house premises gets an enhanced security right at the moment you install the outdoor flood light. Also, in case someone dares to still carry out any malicious activity, they would be much more likely to be spotted by you or by someone else from outside your home.
All of this can happen only if you keep the light switched on right through the evening. If you forget to switch on the lights on a regular basis then the whole exercise of installation of the lights will be futile. You would still remain as vulnerable as always. So ensure that you develop a discipline of switching the outdoor flood light on.
The other significant problem that you may face is the increase in power bills. To avoid this issue, you would want to select the outdoor flood light in a manner that operates at the regular line voltage but a reduced wattage. It is the wattage and not the voltage that increases your power bills. At the same time, the wattage is also the driving factor behind the enhanced illumination, which is a factor that you would not want to compromise.
Fortunately, the recent developments in the light industry have brought around some breakthrough discoveries. One important discovery is the low-wattage light bulbs that provide practically similar illumination as the high-wattage ones. But if you plan to get such an outdoor flood light then you must get a branded one to minimize chances of compromise in lifespan of the lights. The lights are easy to install, and you may be able to install them on your own unless you are a novice in works of this nature.
Local police municipalities recommend residents install an outdoor flood light to enhance security. You should check out http://OutdoorFloodLight.org to see what's available for high output, high efficiency lighting.

My guy was mesmerized by a picture of a Japanese star. He found her ordinary looking in her other photos but in this one, she looked gorgeous.
Same girl. Similar outfits. Yet, in one photo she was mesmerizing, in another, just like every other girl.
The difference?
Her eyes. In particular held his attention. That and her sensual lips. The way her mouth was slightly open, suggestively in those pictures.
Well, for starters, her eyes looked much bigger in that photo than in the other pictures. Here, the makeup artist employed eye makeup, for that smoky eye look.
That, paired with ultra long lashes give a girl mesmerizing eyes.
That is a tricky look to apply. Done wrongly, it can make eyes look smaller. Or worse still, it can make a girl look really old.
Done correctly, eyes look sultry and much bigger.
The trick is not to rim the entire eye.
Here's what you can do.
First, use foundation and concealer if you must to create the illusion of perfect skin. If you need a touch of color, apply a rosy blush on cheeks, with a very light hand. For a hint of color. Spritz with water to set the makeup. Then place a kleenex over your face to soak up the excess moisture.
The eyes:
1. Line eyes with a dark brown eye liner pencil or khol:
Draw as close as possible along the upper lash line. Start from the inner corner of the upper eye lid and thicken the line as you move from mid eye onwards.
Draw as close as possible along the lower lash line. Line from the middle of the eye outwards.
2. Use the flat side of an eye shadow brush and go over the liner. Smudge slightly to soften the look.
3. Open up the eyes with long lush lashes. Get false eyelashes, follow the instructions and put them on. Use this lash kit to help you get started. Or you could use a lash curler on your eye lashes, then a lash-building mascara to make your eyelashes ultra long.
The lips:
1. Pick a lipstick in a soft, rosy pink shade.
2. Use a lip brush to paint the lipstick onto your lips.
3. Apply a pink lip gloss over your lips for that mouth-watering shine that makes your lips look oh so sensual.
How to do a smokey eye on blue eyes with brown shadow/liner?
I have bright blue eyes and black makes me look goth. Could you give me step by step instructions on how to do it with brown? I want it to be edgy yet still pretty.
THX!
Its good you know what suits you, some people just don't have any idea! I will leave some links of you tube videos that give you a tutorial on smokey eye.
In my opinion:
Start with a fresh eye. Apply an eye primer. If your not sure what this is, it is a product that is used to 'prepare' your eye area, usually making the make up last longer. Various make up stores sell it, and its an amazing product. Second, apply a base, it could be a concealer, or any cream based product, in a nude colour that is, obviously, similar to your skin, apply it all over your lid, and up to your eye brows. Blend it in, so you do not have excess product hanging around. I'm going to use my example in browns but DO NOT BE AFRAID OF COLOUR. Just make sure whatever you use, suits you, so you don't turn out like a clown.
1. Start with a dark brown eye pencil. Don't press to hard, as you don't want to drown your gorgeous blue eyes! Start from the outer corner, and make a (approximately) 2mm thick line, and draw in the eye liner about JUST PAST half way into your eye, but the closer you pull your eyeliner to your tear duct, the thinner the eye liner should be. Obviously do the same to the other eye! :}
2. I do not know if you use make up brushes? But if not, the little sponge/brush that comes with the eyeshadow will be fine. Now use, an eye shadow colour that is similar to the eyeliner. Go to the crease in your eye. Start about a quater of the way in, from the OUTER corner. And apply the eye shadow. Now, I hope this next part makes sense. Your brush should be now sitting on your crease, near the outer corner of your eye, DRAW the eye liner down in a rounded motion TO the corner, and then gently mock the way you did your eyeliner at the bottom, but JUST above it, so its almost touching. Now you will kind of have a backwards 'C' shape on the edge of your eye. I hope this is easy to follow..
3. Now fill in the 'C' from the outer edge and draw it towards your tear duct, about half way in. Now, with a light beige/cream colour, slightly blend the edge of the brown right to your tear duct. So it kind of 'spans' out into the lighter colour as it gets closer to your tear duct.
4. Now get a gold/shimmery eye shadow, and put a dab right on the inner corner of your eye thats right next to your tear duct and nose, and then sweep it up lightly to join the rest of the eye shadow. And Blend.
5. Put some of the brown eyeliner on your bottom lid, and sweep it across, as heavy as you feel looks good, to where your eye lashes end. Don't take it right up to the inner corner, as it may totally drown your eye.
And hopefully, if this make ANY sense. You will now have a beautiful brown smokey eye.
So if anything I said just then didn't help at all, try some of these you tube videos, thats where I go, when I need a helping hand!

Blessed are those who are born with and have naturally long and thick eyelashes. They make the eyes more beautiful besides enhancing the overall facial beauty. Eyelashes that are short, brittle, thinning or falling can cause a lot of distress and remedial measures are desperately sought by the sufferer who becomes extremely conscious of her appearance.
Mavala Double Lash is the ideal treatment for those seeking long and healthy eyelashes, which will not easily fall. It helps to make eyelashes stronger by nourishing them and hence stimulating their growth. The lashes thus become strong enough to remain firm and not fall for any reason.
It is formulated out of natural extracts, proteins and other nutrients needed for nourishing the roots of the eyelashes. The multi proteins are needed by eyelash hair to remain firmly attached to their roots. The ingredients are all tested for safety to be able to use it so close to the eyes. It is non-toxic and non-irritating as well.
As a unique formulation for the growth of hair, it works for thinning eyebrows as well. Applied on the eyebrows, it helps hair grow there to make them thicker and stronger. It also has moisturizing ingredients that remove all traces of dryness, which can make the hair brittle and coarse.
It yields best results if applied every night on a thoroughly washed and cleaned face. It needs to be lightly brushed on the eyelashes like mascara with its own applicator brush. Amazing results are noticed in four weeks or less.
This product is purely a nutritive formulation meant for cosmetic transformation with no side effects even after prolonged use. It is a European product manufactured in Switzerland.
