There is nothing quite like a hot, soothing bowl of homemade chicken soup, especially when your sick or when the weather starts getting cold. I am sure many of us have fond memories of Mom or Grandma fixing up a hot bowl of chicken soup when we were younger. Remember how comforting it was and how good it made you feel? I sure do and I look forward to making chicken soup at least once a month during the cold days of winter. I am going to share with you one of the most delicious recipes for chicken soup, passed down to me from my Grandmother. It is quite easy to make and I promise you will enjoy this again and again...
I rarely follow exact measurements while cooking, so the ingredients below are approximated. Please forgive me in advance..
INGREDIENTS
2 Large Chicken Breasts on the Bone, Skin on
3 Large Celery Stalks Sliced (Reserve Leaves)
3 Large Carrots Sliced
1 Medium Onion Chopped
3 Cloves of Garlic Crushed
2 Medium Russet Potatoes Cubed
1 Cup of Small Pasta for Soup (Orzo, Ditalini)
Water
Chicken Stock
Salt and Pepper to Taste
Grated Italian Cheese (Optional)
Bouquet garni of Thyme, Sage and Rosemary (Instructions Below)
DIRECTIONS
Step 1 - Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large pot over medium high heat. Add the chicken breasts skin side down and brown.
Step 2 - Add water and chicken stock to the pot. Add a 50/50 mixture of water and chicken stock. The chicken stock gives the soup a boost in flavor. Add enough liquid so that the chicken is completely submerged, plus a little more.
Step 3 - Add celery leaves, garlic and Bouquet Garni (instructions follow). Bring liquid to a boil, then cover and simmer. Cook chicken on a low simmer until you can easily pull the chicken off the bone. One chicken is done, remove it from the pot and place it on a large plate. Remove the garlic and bouquet from pot and discard.
Bouquet Garni Instructions/Description
A bouquet Garni is just a fancy French name for a bundle of herbs that can be added to stocks, soups and stews. When translated to English it means: "garnished bouquet". It is very easy to make. You can either tie the bundle together using strings or you can wrap it in cheesecloth. I like to use the cheesecloth as it keeps the herbs contained so that they do not fall off and become part of the soup. If you don't mind the herbs in the final soup, you can wrap it with string. This bundle of herbs will impart a deliciously rich flavor to the broth.
Step 4 - Add the onion, potatoes, celery and carrots to the pot. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer until the vegetables are tender.
Step 5 - Add your pasta and cook along with vegetables until pasta is al dente.
Step 6 - While the pasta is cooking, pull chicken from the bone and shred into bite size pieces. Add the chicken to the pot and stir.
Step 7 - Serve. Top with grated cheese if desired. Enjoy!

In the late 1970's and early 80's a number of writers ganged up on management. They were looking for a scapegoat to blame for the failure of U.S. business to cope with the Japanese commercial invasion. The war cry was to replace managers with leaders. One of the most strident critics of management was the Harvard Business School professor, Abraham Zaleznik. It is time to bring management back from the dead, to take its rightful place alongside leadership as an essential organizational function. To do this we need to expose the writings of management's detractors to show what nonsense they were writing. Actually, there was nothing wrong with the function of management in the 1970's, just the way it was practiced. The attack of Zaleznik is especially important to address because the Harvard Business Review is still publishing his original 1977 article (Managers and leaders: Are they different?) in their collection of articles on leadership, thereby creating the impression that his views are still relevant and up to date when they are actually dangerously outdated and harmful.
Zaleznik makes his case against modern management by comparing it with Fredrick Taylor's scientific management theories. Bearing in mind that Taylor died in 1915, it is astonishing that Zaleznik does not demonstrate why it is legitimate to compare Taylor's views with the way modern managers operate, so his views are questionable even before we start to examine his arguments.
In a book published in 1989, The Managerial Mystique, Zaleznik says that ''what Taylor proposed through his system of management lies at the core of how modern managers are supposed to think and act. The principle is rationality. The aim is efficiency.'' Most importantly, Zaleznik believed that managers and leaders differ in terms of their personalities. Taking his lead from Taylor, Zaleznik describes managers as being cold efficiency machines who ''adopt impersonal, if not passive, attitudes towards goals.'' Further, ''Managers see themselves as conservators and regulators of an existing order of affairs.'' He tells us that ''managers' tactics appear flexible: on the one hand they negotiate and bargain; on the other, they use rewards, punishments, and other forms of coercion.'' So, managers are only apparently flexible and they are coercive, even manipulative in Zaleznik's eyes. In his 1977 article Zaleznik makes exactly the same claim, stating that: ''...one often hears subordinates characterize managers as inscrutable, detached and manipulative.''
Zaleznik would have us believe that, while managers seek activity with people, they ''maintain a low level of emotional involvement in those relationships.'' They also apparently ''lack empathy''. Zaleznik expands on the emotional theme in The Managerial Mystique by telling us that managers ''operate within a narrow range of emotions. This emotional blandness when combined with the preoccupation on process, leads to the impression that managers are inscrutable, detached and even manipulative.
It is not clear what evidence Zaleznik has for these damning charges. He seems to be doing nothing more than extrapolating from Fredrick Taylor's conception of management without ever asking himself whether management as a function is committed to Taylor's characterization of it. Starting with Taylor's worship of machine-like efficiency, Zaleznik has tarred all managers for all time with the same brush.
Zaleznik believes that leaders are creative and interested in substance while managers are only interested in process - how things are done, not what. For Zaleznik, ''leaders, who are more concerned with ideas, relate in more intuitive and empathetic ways.'' No doubt leaders are more interested in ideas than how they get implemented, but there is no basis whatsoever for calling leaders more empathetic than managers.
Fundamentally, there is no real basis for this personality distinction. It is not good enough to say that managers were controlling from the time of Taylor until the Japanese invasion showed them up. Even if this is historically accurate, there is nothing in this alleged fact that commits management to operating today in this manner. The simple way around Zaleznik's condemnation of management is to define it functionally, in terms of what purpose it serves, not in terms of how it actually achieves its purpose. This leaves the means of managing completely open.
Management versus Leadership
An easy way of defining leadership and management is to say that leaders promote new directions while managers execute existing ones. In addition, it is widely recognized today that leaders can have widely different personalities ranging from quiet, determined and factual to bubbly, erratic but inspiring cheerleader types. The whole movement to differentiate leaders from managers along personality lines has failed miserably and it is time to give it up. The truth is that both leaders and managers can be inspiring, they just have a different focus. An inspiring leader moves us to change direction while an inspiring manager motivates to work harder. Yes, managers promote efficiency, but this doesn't have to mean Fredrick Taylor's mechanistic assembly line efficiency. Management is like investment. Effective managers deploy all resources at their disposal where they will get the best return on that investment. In modern organizations, populated by intelligent knowledge workers, this might mean setting up self-managing teams. To get the best return out of such talent, modern managers need to be good coaches, nurturers and developers of people. Of course, they need to measure and monitor performance to know if their deployments of people are paying off, but this does not entail doing so in a cold, mechanical or controlling manner.
In conclusion, management is just as important a function in organizations as leadership and it is time to cast aside the views of writers such as Abraham Zaleznik who argue otherwise. Moreover, the fact that his writing is still endorsed by the Harvard Business School raises questions about their credibility.

If I snap my fingers best with my left hand, does that make me left handed.?
I do prefer my left for everything but handwriting. Why is handwriting the definer? There's so much more to me. I know right handed ppl that eat left handed. I'm even left handed in the bathroom. I scald myself by grabbing the hot water knob all the time! And I wipe after I "potty" with my left hand. I brush my hair left handed.
That's a very good question that has been baffling me for years. I'm right handed but can only snap my fingers with my left hand. Isn't it weird. I hope we get an answer for this.

Mont Blanc produces several special edition and limited edition writing instruments. They're available in any number of variations in style and design and also come as sets or singles. Some of these limited and special editions feature fountain pens, mechanical pencils, as well as ballpoint pens, while some are limited to only fountain pens. Even so you can have any Mont Blanc writing instrument converted.
For some reason Mont Blanc makes it somewhat difficult to obtain Ballpoint Pens from their limited edition sets. They simply don't produce that many limited editions that include ballpoint pens. As an example, much of the informational material on the Patron of the Arts Series which only is available as a fountain pen states that the reason for this is that it is only for "serious writers". Go figure! Myself, I like to think that the reasons can be traced to image and promotions.
As an example, the Mahatma Gandhi Limited edition is confined only to rollerball and piston fountain pens. Even so, if you have yet to consider a rollerball pen you may want to look at one and try it out. It functions very similar to a ball point pen but it requires a lighter touch and it also produces script that's very similar to that of a fountain pen. This edition was launched in October of 2009 and is comprised of 3000 fountain pens and 3000 rollerballs.
The Mont Blanc Writers Series, released every fall had its first issue in 1992. It will consist of a fountain pen a ball point pen and it's also available as a three piece set as well. Each annual release is devoted to and carries the name and engraved signature of a popular writer. Some names of the past that have been included in this very popular annual limited edition release include Ernest Hemingway, Marcel Proust, Agatha Christie and Jules Verne.
Do be aware that the ballpoint pens in those set as well as other limited edition and special release sets that do include them can sell out early. This means that if you intend on purchasing a Mont Blanc limited edition ball point pen you would be well advised to plan ahead of time and be prepared to place your order on the day or as close to the day that it is released. Look to spend in the area of $700 US, (plus or minus) for one of these pens, although releases of the past have sold for as much as $1500 US.
Other than that, locating information on Limited Edition Mont Blanc Ball Point Pens online appears to be rather difficult, which leads me to believe that there really just aren't that many limited editions that include them. One thing that you do want to be aware of though when shopping around for ballpoint pens of this type, is that there are some out there that have been converted from fountain pens. This isn't a problem just as long as the workmanship is good. However; if this is done with a pen from a set, it means that there can be two Mont Blanc Ballpoint pens in existence with the same serial numbers.
Mark Hannt writes for Wheelers who carry a wide range of Mont Blanc Ballpoint Pen products and many other luxury items. Visit the website for more details.

Like many of you looking to achieve beautiful eye makeup, I am constantly learning and researching tips for improving my eye makeup capabilities. Over time I have reached the conclusion that eye makeup application is not that difficult once you learn some of the "special" eye makeup techniques and eye makeup tricks. Join me as we learn how to apply professional looking eye makeup step by step.
Step 1: "Choose Eye-Shadow Colors Carefully"
Select eye-shadow colors that contrast with or heighten the coloration of your eyes instead of matching it precisely. Violet eye shadow, for instance, exposes the green in hazel eyes; topaz causes brown eyes to look deeper. Mauve, coral and gray are complimentary to blue eyes.
Eye shadow ought to also enhance your skin tone and the color in your clothing. Softened shades appear most effective in the daytime; use iridescent or brilliant colors at night, if at all.
Step 2: "Determine Your Eye Factors"
Hopefully you have noticed by now that not everyone has the same shaped eyes. This fact is very important as it will determine the eye makeup technique for applying eye- shadow. So before you proceed any further, stop and examine your eye shape by looking in a mirror or have someone else observe and tell you whether your eyes are:
classic egg-shaped (oval) or not
small and recessed or striking
close together (close set) or wide apart (wide set).
These three factors play a prominent part in the eye makeup application that follows, so it is vital that you are as accurate as possible with your observation. Perhaps have several people help with this step for a better result.
Step 3: "Shading Tips"
If your eyes are the classic egg-shaped, apply a medium shade from the eye crease to the eyelashes, a somewhat darker shade on the eye crease, and a light shadow along the browbone. Blend in the colors upwards and out. If you eyes are less than perfect ovals, you are able to redefine their shape with shadow. Bear in mind that a light color will bring an eye area forwards; a dark color will reduce it.
To make small or sunken eyes seem bigger, use a pale shade from the browbone to the lashes. Broaden them even more by employing a small "V" of slightly darker shade just on the far side of the outer eye corners. Large eyes will appear smaller if you use a dark shade all over the full lid just about to the browbone.
To make close-set eyes appear farther separated, use a pale shade on the third of the eyelids nearest the nose, a darker shade close to the temple. Reverse this to cause wide-set eyes to appear closer together.
Step 4: "Shaping Techniques"
Utilize a liquid or pencil eyeliner to accent shape. Draw a thin line as near the eyelashes as possible, as well on the outer third of the lower lid; smear it lightly for a natural look.
Step 5: "Mascara Tricks"
For a "wide-awake" effect, use an eyelash curler prior to putting on mascara. Hold up the curler near the base of the eyelashes and squeeze; count to three, then let go. Move the curler further out towards the tips of the lashes and squeeze once again.
Put on mascara with your eyes open. Grasping the wand vertically, coat the tips of the upper eyelashes, and then drag the wand horizontally across the lashes from base to tips. If you wish, you can likewise brush mascara to the lower lashes. If any eyelashes bunch up, divide them with the wand tip. Employ a cotton swab for cleanups.
Congratulations! If you closely followed the basic eye makeup techniques and eye makeup tricks as directed above, you should now be looking at some beautiful eye makeup. If you did not get the results you wanted, please try again. Like most things in life, whether learning to ride a bicycle, learning to skate, etc., it all gets easier and better with practice. In no time at all you will be able to apply such perfect eye makeup that your friends will think you paid to have it done!

Tig welding stainless steel is like an art form. It takes finesse, patience, a good eye, and willingness to follow the rules for welding stainless. What are the rules?
Rule 1...There is an old rule of thumb that says use one amp for every thousandths of an inch of thickness. For welding stainless steel , it takes a little bit less than that. For anything over .125" multiple passes are in order and usually 100 amps is plenty.
Rule 2...never use a carbon steel brush or carbon steel filler rod. The weld might look fine for a few days but soon it will rust and make you look like the slug you are if you take short cuts like that.
Rule 3...get in and get out. Farting around getting the weld going once you light up, or welding really slow builds up heat that you just can't outrun. When you light up, make sure you are ready to weld. Get moving and race the heat. Distortion is a big deal with stainless too and low heat input helps prevent distortion. Low heat input does not necessarily mean low amperage. Sometimes a higher amperage will let you get in and get out and put less overall heat in the part.
Rule 4... use a gas lens . Gas lens collet bodies work better than old school collet bodies. They cost more but they work better. You need all the help you can get with gas shielding because not only the weld, but the hot tip of the stainless steel tig rod needs to be protected by argon. Why? Because oxidation of the hot tip of the filler makes the puddle sluggish. A sluggish puddle takes more amps to flow. More amps means more discoloration, more heat input, and more distortion.
Rule 5... hold a tight arc. A long arc will make the end of your filler rod ball up and blob into the puddle. You don't want that.
Rule 6... Don't chase the puddle. When welding sheet metal, sometimes the puddle will wander for different reasons like magnetic forces or heat sinks. Stay the course and go straight ahead. Things will settle in by themselves and be more uniform if you don't chase the puddle.

Many people associate camping with the hottest months, but die-hard nature-lovers understand the magic of fall camping. Autumn is the perfect time to wander among the critters as they gather food for winter, to glory in the beauty of the transforming trees, and to curl up beside the campfire with cocoa, s'mores and a scary story.
There are also plenty of practical reasons to go camping in the fall. Temperatures are milder, and you'll have fewer insects to deal with. As kids head back to school, the number of people visiting State and National Parks drastically declines. Additionally, many parks offer reduced camping fees for fall, which makes this an economical time to head outdoors. You'll also find it easier to find a quiet, secluded spot at your favorite campgrounds.
Some parks do shut off or reduce their camping services during the off season, so it's a good idea to check before you go - and it doesn't hurt to take a gander at the local weather conditions, while you're at it.
Here are some other things to keep in mind as you consider a fall camping trip:
Less Light in the Day
The days are shorter now, so you'll need a light source for a longer amount of time than you did in the summer. Make sure you have a long-lasting LED lantern or flashlight. You'll probably also go through more wood for the campfire, so bring plenty with you or be prepared to purchase extra. Be prepared to go through more cooking fuel as well.
Cooler Days and Nights
Good riddance to waking up in a tent that swelters like a Dutch oven. Thankfully, fall brings milder air.
But remember, cooler days mean cooler nights, and your camping gear needs to reflect this change. Make sure your sleeping bag is temperature-appropriate, because layering extra clothes won't necessarily make you any warmer. Ideally, you should sleep in a mummy-style bag and wear a hat to bed. It's also a good idea to use a sleeping pad to insulate you from the chilly ground; a foam pad is more effective than an air mattress for protection from the cold.
Explore New Locations
To take advantage of the best fall camping has to offer, look for a place with plenty of deciduous trees and hiking trails. The mountains, with their clear vistas and ample forests, are breathtaking in the fall, so long as you take care to prepare for the weather conditions.
If you're looking for a warmer place to camp, keep in mind that temperatures are cooler near the water, so you might want to stay away from rivers, lakes, and streams. On the other hand, fall can be an especially good time for fishing, so anglers may prefer to remain near the water.
Unpredictable Weather
Getting wet puts you at greater risk of hypothermia, so it's important to pack water-resistant gear and do your best to stay dry. If you're camping in areas prone to flooding or other extreme weather, make sure you're familiar with evacuation routes.
Be careful when camping in mountainous regions. By fall, altitudes above 7,000 feet are already receiving snowfall. Getting caught unprepared in the snow can turn a pleasant campout into a life-or-death situation.

The Native American tribes had many different designs for face painting. Every tribe had it's own particular design, but each person would also paint their face reflecting a personal message or a design having personal spiritual significance. Colors normally used in painting their faces were red, black, green, white and yellow. Each of these colors had a certain meaning, red was the color of war, black the color of the living, green was meant to increase the wearer's night vision, white meant peace - i.e. flying a white flag, and yellow signified death or an encounter with death. A few tribes would associate different meanings to each color, but most of them had the same meaning for each color.
Men would often paint lines on their cheeks, foreheads, and chin. And the women used mainly dots on their faces. Often the males would separate their into two parts and paint each section differently. Most of their paintings were not very elaborate, and because the colors had signified a happening or feeling they used the color to illustrate meanings.
To create your own little Indian use some of the ideas below
Half Face Design.
1st Face. Take your sponge and red paint and paint the top half of the face ending in a straight line across the nose to the middle part of each ear. Take a medium brush and paint a blue line across the face from ear to ear. Paint another line in white below the blue line. The red paint needs to come down to these two lines. For added flare paint vertical stripes on the cheek and chin in red or black.
2nd Face.
With white paint and a sponge paint the lower half of the face. The white paint should end just below the eyes. Next take black paint and a large flat brush and paint a black stripe from ear to ear across the eyes. The top of the strip should cover the eyebrows ending in line with the tip of the ears. The bottom should be straight below the eyes and then slant down and end three fourths of the way down the ear. Black paint can also be applied to the lips. With a large round brush paint two vertical red lines on each cheek. Then take a small brush and paint a small white line across the forehead, above the black paint and you're done!
For girls a small feather or two on the cheek bone looks very pretty. Start with white paint and paint the white of the feathers. The edges should be a bit rough or jagged and the end should come down to a point. The shape of the feather can also be slightly curved. Draw a thin black line in the middle of each feather and then paint the lower half of the feather black. For a more natural effect let some of the white paint show through the black. Take the white paint again and paint two short lines or ribbons attached to the end of each feather. Edge the ribbons with black paint.
Cheek contour tips? Color and application?
I am looking to get some contour for my cheeks.
I have some cheekbone already, but I want it to kind of follow this idea...
I know that's a little extreme looking, and my face isn't as sunken in, but I want to kind of try for a lesser version of that effect, just so it looks like I have a shadow under my cheekbone.
I have fair skin, not porcelain, but I am quite pale. What shade of makeup should I buy, and should it be foundation, or a bronzer?
What would be a good brand to buy, and any other tips you have?
To contour your cheeks you need a matte(no shimmer) blusher in a shade 2-3 shades darker then your natural skin tone. Start at your temples and shade down to the end of your cheekbones make sure to blend it really well for the most natural look. It also helps if your put a highlight on top of your cheekbones to make the contour stand out even more. Mac makes a good highlighter/contour duo.
