"But it has no back!" you exclaim the first time you see a kneeling chair.
Kneeling chairs have been the source of much controversy in the world of ergonomics. Are they some Japanese thing? Are they a gimmick? How do you even sit in the thing? Some organizations have classified them as orthotic devices. Some ergonomists have written them off entirely. Yet we are still left wondering, do kneeling chairs work?
The key to answering this question is first to ask, "how does the body work?" Fortunately, we only need to understand how one important set of joints affects the rest of the body--the hips.
Biomechanical studies have revealed that the the thigh bone is only capable of rotating up about 60 degrees in the hip joint. After the math, this leaves us with another 30 degrees we still need to raise our legs in order to fit into an ordinary 90 degree, right-angled chair. Obviously we sit in chairs every day, so how do we do it? After the hip joint maxes out, we rotate our pelvis backwards in order to get the extra contraction we need to fit into a chair.
Therein lies the problem with a standard chair. It's impossible to sit truly upright with your pelvis tilted backwards. Rotating your pelvis backwards points the natural head spine line behind your chair back. However, the chair back prevents you from leaning backwards into the natural head-spine line, and forces your spine upwards in a way that stretches and pulls on the lower back. This leads to the "flat lower back" that causes low back pain and ruptured discs. Ouch! Standard ergonomic chairs try to fix the problem by restoring the curve in the lower back with lumbar support. But lumbar support can't fix our postural woes, because the problem is not the lower back! The problem is that our pelvis is tilted backwards.
Enter the kneeling chair. Most kneeling chairs are built at a fixed angle that only raises the thighs 60 degrees--as far as the hip joint naturally allows. This allows your hips to stay in their neutral, upright position. Without the pressure of your pelvis and chair back fighting each other, sitting upright becomes very easy. So easy, that you don't need the added force of a chair back to keep you upright.
Many people (including myself) have even adopted kneeling chairs as office chair replacements for our regular 8-10 hour days of office sitting without missing the chair back at all. The only caveat for a new kneeling chair user is that your lower back has been weakened by years of using a regular chair, and there will be an adjustment period while your lower back muscles come back into balance with your abdominal muscles. Alternate sitting in your regular chair and your kneeling chair for the first week or two while you are getting used to the new chair. Don't just switch cold turkey.
So the final decision, do kneeling chairs really work? Once you get past that they "look weird" and don't have a back, the answer is an enthusiastic "YES!" Kneeling chairs are both scientifically and experimentally proven to be among the best ergonomic chairs because they fix the real ergonomic problem with chairs--hip angle. Replacing your regular chair with a kneeling chair is likely to boost your energy, reduce daily pains and fatigue, and provide the added postural benefit of walking taller and prouder than you ever have before.

What is a good point and shoot digital camera for lowlight?
We need a camera that can do the following:
-Take night portraits and capture the background and the faces clearly .
-Night landscapes (both usually in city settings such as Rome, Paris, London, etc).
-Take fast pictures if possible. (If it could catch a running puppy in more detail than a blur that would be fantastic).
-Takes clear photos in macro setting, I photograph flowers and butterflies.
-Has a minimum 4x optical zoom. 5 would be better.
-Compact
-Image Stabilization if possible
-Fits a standard minitature camera tripod
We're looking at the Fujifilm finepix F100fd. Is there any cameras that are competetive with this model? As long as it's over 7 megapixels I don't really care if the megapixels are competitive with this model.
For low light photography with a point & shoot, nothing has yet surpassed the Fuji F31d and F30. The F31d keeps the highlights under better control, making this the better of the two models. These cameras, both from 2006, sold very well but you won't find a lot of them on eBay... they're so good at what they do that current owners have nothing to upgrade to. Well, a dSLR of course, but good luck slipping a dSLR into your coat pocket.
As an all-round camera, the F100fd is much better. Some reviews quibble about the concessions that were made to achieve its 5x zoom lens, but the 28mm wide angle instantly makes it better than 80% of what's out there. Simply put, the F100fd has some great features and it's good value for money.

If you ever have wanted to paint on coffee cups, tea cups, or mugs, you may have wondered if there was a paint on the market that would be microwave safe. Through my painting experience I have tried different types of paints and have found one recently that claims to be not only dishwasher safe, but microwave safe as well. This wonderful product is Pebeo 150 Paint.
This product is very durable. It adheres well to different types of glass including porcelain and clear glass such as wine glasses and martini glasses. It is very transparent, almost stain glass looking when painted on clear glass. The paint can be a little thicker to work with and not flow as easily as other products. You can use applicator bottles or paint brushes. If you want to make it more opaque consider added some of the ivory colored paint to the colors you have chosen. This works well as the second color, if you are using the One Stroke method.
This paint has a different behavior than working with regular craft acrylic paint. It may take some experimenting to get your technique down, however once you find what methods works best for you, the finished product is just great. It will be able to stand up to frequent use.
It is imperative that the directions are followed when using this paint. The 24 hour drying time before baking is really important. If you bake it too soon, it could cause the paint to bubble and ruin your design. You do not want to spend all that time working on your design and then have to throw it away because you did not let it air dry long enough. Be patient and you will have a lovely piece of artwork when you are done. Go on and get busy!

Macs - are they really worth it?
As far as I see a mac, you pay about £700 for what a £400 pc can do. Its easier to use? Nope. But what really gets my goat is that it is, essentally a heavily modified commercial Linux distrubution, with maybe the command line removed. If I wanted Linux, I would have got OpenSUSE or Ubuntu, which is far more flexible and free compared to a mac. mac owners, persuade me to want to get a mac over such as Windows or Linuw.
Actually, Mac OS is built upon BSD, not Linux. Both are forms of Unix, but Linux is closer to the System V branch than the BSD branch.
The one major advantage Macs have is that Apple controls both the hardware and the software. Drivers are the most problematic part of an OS - you have to write drivers for an almost infinite number of pieces of hardware in an infinite number of combinations. Bad drivers can hose everything up. With the Mac, Apple limits the hardware choices. That way they focus on writing a small number of drivers that they know are stable and will work together. This is why Macs 'just work'. Some people think this is worth it, other don't.
I'm considering a Mini. They've overpriced, but more affordable than the rest of Apple's hardware.

What are the best and least expensive makeup brands?
Ok...but there is more. I want a simple makeup routine and I want to look good. I also don't have much money. Are brands like NYC and Rimmel (cheap!) not great? I need a good concealer, eye makeup, blush, and light foundation. What should I buy? Also! I need a great makeup blush brush! They are so expensive. What brand should I buy and where? Help!
For eye shadows and eye pencil's, the cheaper chemist brands are usually quite good, though stay away from Rimmel. Personally i find they'r products don't last long and need to be reapplied regularly. You could always go into your local make-up shop and over a few weeks try all the different testers and see how long they last through out the day. A good way to see value for money before you buy.
I still use Maybelline for foundation, it's quite cheap and gives really good coverage. If i go out i use Maybelline's Dream Matt as a consealer then a foundation over the top. For evryday use, i use as a consealer a product called Doctor Feel Good, its made by an English company called Benefit. Its not cheap at all to buy (about 30 euro), but it lasts absolutly ages! I have had one tin for over a year.
